How to Deal With Your Rude, Self-Centered Boyfriend

You may not want to use the word “jerk,” but that’s how you feel. He only seems to be interested when everything is about him. Is it even possible to have a relationship when he thinks he’s the only one who matters?
Dear Claire, I have been dating this man for a month and a half now and at the beginning, our conversations had a flow, I enjoyed spending time with him and we could be honest with each other. However, in the past couple of weeks our conversations have become very dull. He either talks for a really long time about himself, but when I comment on it or offer another conversation topic, he interrupts me consistently or dismisses it with short one-word answers or he doesn’t say anything at all. I don’t care about having silences or pauses with him, but I am at a point where I feel like I can’t really talk to him about anything because no matter what I say, it doesn’t seem interest to him unless it is about himself or his own interests/hobbies and so I remain quiet or get immediately annoyed and frustrated.
